Millstein Center Researchers & Fellows
The Millstein Center is pleased to announce its hosting of three scholars from Kozminski University (Poland) at Yale over a three year period.
The first scholar, Mr. Karol Klimczak, will be pursuing his research project "Governance at Risk". The goal of the project is to conduct a survey of methods available for alignment of corporate risk profile with shareholders' interests, control of the risk profile and of risk management systems. Mr. Klimczak will be starting his fellowship in fall 2009. Two other Kozminski scholars will be named for upcoming 2010 and 2011 fellowship.
The Center also received proposals for various fellowships and research awards for the upcoming year.
After review by the Millstein Center's Faculty Committee, the Millstein Center has offered Mr. Christian Weiss, Research Assistant / Doctoral Candidate, Chair of Strategy and Organization, European Business School (EBS), International University Schloss Reichartshausen, our support for a Yale Visiting Assistant in Research position for the fall 2009 semester. His research focuses on the determinants and performance effects of the ownership structures of firms, in particular, the relative importance of firm-level, industry-level, and country-specific factors as antecedents of ownership allocation and respective performance effects.
Additionally, Ms. Mariana Pargendler will be conducting research for the Millstein Center starting in February 2009. Ms. Pargendler is enrolled in the J.S.D program at the Yale Law School. She was previously an associate in the Corporate department of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. Ms. Pargendler already holds an LL.M. degree from Yale Law School, where she was a John M. Olin Fellow in Law, Economics and Public Policy and an editor of the Yale Journal of International Law. Ms. Pargendler is the author of several U.S. and international publications in the fields of contract and corporate law and is admitted to practice in New York and Brazil.
