May 30, 2007: Creating Value for the Long Term

The Millstein Center for Corporate Governance and Performance at the Yale School of Management and Performance and the Aspen Institute Business and Society Program are hosting a one-day academic roundtable entitled “Creating Value for the Long Term.” This roundtable, sponsored by Ernst & Young, will bring together top academics drawn from the legal and business fields to discuss corporate governance issues of key importance, specifically the issue of short-termism.

Participants will explore issues such as:
What is the academic research agenda that best explores the causes and consequences of short-termism? Is the business environment unduly risky as a result of short-termism? How can practical solutions be identified? Do different types of investors come with different agendas and time horizons, and if so, might there be a public good served in amplifying the voice of certain investors?

Please contact the Center for additional information.
