Modern Capital Markets, a serious study being developed in conjunction with the OECD, aims to investigate the changing nature of ownership of corporations worldwide, parse the changing scene into its components, research the interrelationships, and then suggest regulatory and private-sector initiatives geared to achieving the corporation’s highest potential for performance, including the advancement of social welfare.  This project will include high-level roundtables with segments of the capital market to understand their respective objectives and their impact on corporate performance, and with management to understand its reactions.  The first roundtable will be held in Paris in the fall of 2007. Several successful meetings have taken place recently, with the OECD and the U.S. Department of Treasury helping to shape the project.  The Center will sponsor research on the subject by issuing a call for papers.
